Gender Role Play

I started working on a new project and I absolutely love it! In our current progressive society, there lingers old ways of thinking that views women inferior to men. This old form of misogyny is depicted by these "housewife" expectations because of the role of women. In the eyes of this outdated view, it's limited to domestic chores and caring for the person needs of the male and children of the household. The appearance of a female dog in place of a human model for these shots, further emphasizes women's supposed inferiority.

I decided to create a series of photos that portray the outdated, old-world view in gender roles regarding women in society. To properly comment on this concept I've staged my subject matter (my female dog) in multiple scenes depicting common "housewife" duties that apply to these old gender roles. I hope that my concept, when seen by an audience, provokes people to consider how they view gender roles ans re-evaluate their perceptions.
